In the next few weeks, our whole school is going to be reading the same book, The Trumpet of the Swan by E.B. White. Each family will receive the book for free along with a schedule to read a chapter a night beginning this weekend. We will be discussing this book each morning. Everyone in the elementary from janitors to teachers to students to lunch ladies will be reading the book! It's a great opportunity to focus on the importance of reading. If, for some reason, your family does not get the chance to read the book one evening, there will be readers each morning at school reading the chapter from the night before to those who are interested.
There is a kick-off event tomorrow (Friday) evening from 5-6:30 at the school. Your student should bring the book home tonight along with a book mark advertising the event. There's a meal with a free-will offering sponsored by P.I.E. and fun activities planned. I will be there volunteering, so make sure you come!
